Is it a bad sign for an internal layer/ egg yolk peritonitis?

I got the Baytril that I ordered finally!



She weighs 1900g, so I gave her little less than 0.4ml orally using a syringe.
I am not sure if I did it a good job, but I made sure that the medicine got into the oesophagus.

She was active as same as yesterday. I hope she had a good day.

The Valbazen that was supposed to deliver to me by today didn't come.

When I checked my tracking number, it will be here on Monday! Delay, delay and delay..

12/01/2013 Update:

When I checked her in the morning at 6:00 am., I saw a broken egg on the ground.



As you see, the shell is very thin, but she pooped it out! Hooray!

But, she was trying to poop out more of it for some reason.. So I inserted 6ml warm water/ KY jelly mixture into her butt and
bathed her.




She pooped it out during the bath.




Exploring our house.. ( upstair) She went upstairs by herself!










At noon, I gave her little less than 0.4ml Baytril using a syringe.




At 2:00pm..

She wants to push out some stuff even though she laid an egg...

My husband told me to put her in the sunny spots because she is 100% fine now.
I am 50% agree/ 50% disagree.. I am still worried about her.

Her abdomen is still swollen and poops are not normal.

The good things were what she laid an egg and started to eat her regular food!!

Check her crop and make sure its flat. I know she is dealing with other stuff, just rule this out. I'm crop obsessed after dealing with it and almost losing my bird. Make sure she is getting calcium and grit. Unfortunately with this peritonitis, they will still lay eggs here and there. Poop is a great clue to their health. She is still not well. I wouldn't keep flushing her out and bathing her all the time. Green poop often means they are starving. Food isn't digesting.

Thank you for your advice, pwand! I will keep her in the darker spots. I was unsure to keep her in such a sunny place all day. I am glad to hear your words!

I would be afraid of introducing bad bacteria into her body causing new issues. The bathing I wouldn't keep doing that either. I feel its hard on them after awhile unless absolutely have too. If she has a stuck egg that you can feel or like vent gleet with a dirty bottom, sure.

Kathy - instead of bathing for a stuck egg, you have mentioned about giving a calcium pill which seems to help instead of baths. If I got this wrong just correct me.

X2. Now that she's on Baytril both good and bad bacteria will be killed and the chance of her getting something like a fungal infection is much greater. No more baths, no more douches, IMO. There is a problem with giving Baytril and calcium at the same time, but I can't remember the details, so I need to look that up. I think you can give calcium, just not at the same time as Baytril, but I'll double check, just to be sure.

That is a great site, but the dose amount that she recommends is less that what my vets told me to give. I think her site says .25ml per 5 pounds, which is about 11mg/kg, but my vets told me to give 20mg/kg.
