Is it a bad sign for an internal layer/ egg yolk peritonitis?

Thank you for all your information and advice, pwand and Kathy!

Thank you for the link, too pwand!

Thank you for checking, Kathy!

No more baths no more douches, and give her more calcium at least 2 hours before giving her Baytril. I got that!

I keep feeding her homemade Greek yogurt, that will be good for her.

And.. homemade dried garlic/egg yolks.

I got the recipe from my mother who had made for my older brother when he had been suffered from aplastic anemia. His doctor told my parents that he wouldn't live more than 5 years.
But, his doctor really tried to save my brother' life, then gave my mom the recipe of the dried garlic/ egg yolks. Thus, He was fully recovered in 5 years.

I read that feeding chickens garlic is a good thing, right?

And, thank you again for all your help!!

I am going to check her and go to sleep. :)

That is a great site, but the dose amount that she recommends is less that what my vets told me to give. I think her site says .25ml per 5 pounds, which is about 11mg/kg, but my vets told me to give 20mg/kg.

-Kathy

I would go with what the vets recommends.

Garlic and cooked egg yolk is very good for them. I used the garlic for my chickens that had sour crop and another with gleet. I am sure it helped.

Thank you for telling me about your experiment! That is great to hear it from you. Thanks, pwand!

At 10:00am.

Thanks to Kathy, Deckie weighed 1836g today. I gave her a bit more than 0.36ml Baytril just now.( 11:40am.)

Hm... She is still laying down. She ate some of egg yolks, garlic, yogurt and oats.

I put Deckie in the largest dog crate in the darker place, but is not darker than the little bathroom that she used to stay.
My husband and son claimed that is too stinky to brush their teeth and do their business in there.
I don't know that she needs to be in a darker place than that.
Should I put a big blanket over that crate?

Yogurt gave my chickens the runs. So i wont use yogurt anymore. She sure is struggling. I use the shower stall for my sick birds, easy to clean up with the runny poops and gives them room to move around. Everybody adjusts even if it does stink. :)

The link that you pasted on the thread recently, I am wondering if I can stop feeding her yogurt. I know her poops get runny, but more than that, I am worried about her immune system getting weaker because of Baytril. I have given her probiotic too. Is that enough to re-establish good bacteria?

I was little sick last night so I went to bed at 9:30pm... Sorry to late to respond it to you, pwand.

This is a good product that goes right into the water, so you don't have to give yogurt. http://www.amazon.com/Vet-Plus-Probios-Dispersible-Digestive/dp/B001BM1QRC Give your chicken a hug for me.

I start my morning with coffee and BYC every morning......

The first thing I check is this thread. The picture of your hen 'exploring' your house is just priceless. Hang in there, we are all rooting for Deckie.

I am not sure I have the fortitude for the battle you are fighting.
