hey, I have a duck egg and I don't know if it's fertile or not and I candled it lightly and saw a small ring and the end of the egg. I'm not exactly sure what this means, maybe a Blood ring? I hope not!:fl

I'm glad there are others who are confirming that it appears to be the air cell. I hope the egg is fertile...best of luck with it!! I hope you also keep us informed...it's nice to know how things work out. :)
I didn't notice you're a new member...welcome to BYC!!! :frow
It's fantastic you've joined the flock! :woot

I'm used to candling from the top where the air cell is and I've only dealt with 4 duck eggs...lol. But I'm from my experience, a darker yolk like that may indicate that it's developing. It's usually not as distinct looking as your egg is...it's usually more golden and glowy if that makes any sense? I could be also be wrong, so please know that.

I'd sure like to hear if there is any signs of an embryo in a few days. :)
