This is an almost 5 month old Red Cross chicken (or Red X). when they were chicks we thought he was a rooster, but after seeing some pictures and reading somethings about them we became unsure. Also bunch of his tail feathers got ripped out by a dog a week ago which is why his tail is short (but luckily the dog only got his feathers so he is fine )
Is he a Rooster?!

It looks like a pullet to me. Have you heard any crowing? You should get eggs or hear crowing soon!

Thanks!
i'm still a bit confused because my other red cross (Stella) is so much smaller and hardly has a comb but is the same age! I was under the impression that Stella was a hen and that this one was a rooster (but i geuss not

), but if they are both hens why is one so much smaller!?

That's a hen, and looks like eggs are incoming soon.

Like humans, birds simply develop at different rates. Your birds are like middle schoolers at this age. Some look more like adults, some like children.

In a few months, they'll look the same and both be laying.

Ok Thanks guys!
The one that I thought was a rooster's name is Stewart, but i guess now i'll have to call her "Stewet"!
