is it bad to introduce one hen into an already exsisting flock?

i have a co-worker who has a hen and has asked me i would like to "have" her hen. i think she might not be very smart "chicken wise" and i would love to take the poor hen off her hands. but..................i have an existing flock of 11 girls and i've been told it is difficult to bring in ONE new girl. will it be as difficult as i think??

any advice would be appreciated!!!!

Do you have a cage to put your new hen in to keep them
separated but still see each other as this is what I do and
after about three days you can release her but I normally
do a week and then watch and observe .......
