By far a broody easier. Less hands on. And cheaper.

Chickens will empty your bank account pretty quick if you’re not careful.Cheaper is what I was looking for too![]()
I would do broody, personally it’s easier because the chicken does all the work by turning the eggs bf keeping the heat and humidity good. Hi CHlCKEN!I have a broody hen who is currently sitting on some infertile eggs. I wanted to give her some eggs to hatch but before she went broody I had plans to get some
An incubator. I wanted to know if it would be easier to hatch with her or an incubator for my first time. View attachment 2709216
were any of your broodies tame? One thing with broodies is that they will attack you when you come near- so my experience with broodies is that they raise unfriendly lil' buggers that will run like crazy and will do anything to get away from people. Also my hen never integrated her chicks in very well (probably because she kept attacking the rest of her flock), so they were loners together until one of them got killed while wandering around away from the flock. I personally think incubator are so much better for hatching, you eliminate a lot of the risks mentioned above
Mine was the friendliest BO in the flockwere any of your broodies tame?
Mine is pretty tame and hasn’t pecked me yet (but she did peck the curious cat). And ever since I started bringing her egg yolks, she doesn’t even fluff up at me anymore. I hope this peace will last when the chickies hatch because I really want to handle them!![]()
Not true with all broodies. Mine trusts me and let's me touch her and even mess with the eggs she's sitting on. She doesn't even react. When it's another chicken, though, she freaks out.One thing with broodies is that they will attack you when you come near- so my experience with broodies is that they raise unfriendly lil' buggers that will run like crazy and will do anything to get away from people.
