So out of my 6 hens, I think three of them are getting ready to lay. Their faces, combs and wattles are getting REALLY red, and I have noticed that they have began to make little bereaus but not dust bathe in them. Just sit there. They are around 20 weeks, maybe a little younger. Here are some pics. I am going to start giving them layer feed and oyster shells on Friday. What do you think????

Thanks!

Nick--my br's and wyandottes have looked ready since they were 17 weeks old. They are now 21 weeks old and we are STILL waiting!!!! Your Pepper looks like my Flo. I have read through the site and have come to realize that my girls will lay when they are ready and not until then. My looking into the nest boxes and threatening them with the roasting pan is not making things move any faster so I am resigned to just giving them treats, freerange time and attention. On their part they follow me around, talk to me, run to me for reassurance and keep me entertained with their antics!

Haha! Cool! Mine run FROM me lol except for pepper she is my baby! Hehehe thanks
