Is it going to hatch???

basically the chicks blood runs through veins along the inside of the shell. this is how they breath while iside the shell. when ready to hatch the blood will be drawn into the chick and this makes them have to break out to get air. That is why the air cell is there. it gives them a reserve of air until they can make the big push!

Good Luck and God Bless!

The chick is still alive.

The hen kind of tore alittle of the sac and there is a little blood, I brought them insdie and put both of the eggs under a heat lamp and layed a damp rag over them, did I do the right thing? I'm going to let them set for an hour or so and if the smooshed one hasn't changed yet then I'll help it out, would pictures help any? Thanks everyone!

Just make sure they dont get too hot! its too close to cook them now. LOL You did fine!
I would try to help a lil at a time. Just remember to stop if you see blood. A tiny bit is ok but alot is a deffinate nono.

Good Luck and God Bless!

if you help and it is alot of blood once the chick is out you can actually use a lil pressure on the umbilicle to stop bleeding. there are threads on here for ways to stop the blood. Im not sure but i think you can use corn starch too. You'de have to search for the threads. I have helped one out. just a lil piece of shell at a time always checking for blood and stopping, waiting for a bit then trying again.
God Bless!

Thanks, I've been turning the light on and off, to make sure they don't get too cold or too hot So just start picking at the shell little by little?

How are the babies doing? Any hatch yet? I completely hatched out the last two of my eggs from the bator (yes, I know that's a no no). Both chicks are great and a week old now. I was just very careful. I started where they had pipped (both of the chicks had issues for different reasons and would never have made it out to hatch) and once I could see that the yolk had been completely absorbed and there were no visible veins, I very carefully hatched them out!

I helped the chick out, he is just fine.
