Is it good to have a mean rooster

I agree.

So do I! Chickens are "No" different than any other animal that we keep in the yard... They have to learn who the boss is! (One way... or the other) If he can't learn the lesson... Rehome or Hatchet!

Here's a different point of view. I don't consider behavior as a factor at all when I'm deciding which males to keep. I am breeding show lines & am concerned with adherence to the Standard. Behavior isn't a factor when birds are being judged. Do I sometimes have an aggressive male? Yes & they are often the most prolific breeders.
I'm a big boy, I go about 215. The biggest cock bird I own weighs about 9 pounds. I think I'm more tah a match for him.

Duke (my rooster) does the exact same thing. Usually it's dark when I open the coop so it isn't a problem but typically, on the weekends, it's light out and he does his dance to me and the girls and then goes about his day!

Our sebright roo is plain mean. We give him a wide berth and he will drop whatever he is doing as soon as he sees us and chase us around the yard. He will literally run 200 ft over to us just to stir up $#!+. Hes too small to eat, so I feel bad just dispatching him with no use for the carcass... dont know what to do with him.
