It reached 108F here is sunny California today. All the chickens but our 2 egg eating brown leghorns were in the hoop coop today. I refilled their waters several times today and offered them all cantaloupe rinds. I noticed one of our brown leghorns was much less active today, and was mostly just standing in the sun by the water. Her comb is bright purple on top, her wings are droopy, she refuses to drink or eat, and she hardly moves when we try to catch her. I dipped her up to her neck in cool ( not cold) water, and brought her inside to the AC and a fan. I tried to get her to drink but she refuses.

I also noticed that she seems to be developing bumble foot.

We usually never can catch her, because she is so flighty. We plan to put down our turkey this weekend who has developed severe bumble foot and staph on his chest. I am already so stressed about this, please advise me on how to help her through the heat stroke (if that's what it is). Then, I guess we will go through the whole bumble foot thing again. Off to check some chicken feet and change the turkey's bandage.

I have been making her swallow water when I dip her beak in water. However, she has no interest in food. This morning she laid a shell-less egg, so I wonder if maybe that's why she seems sick. Or at least part of it. She also managed to break the egg and get yolk and poo all over her belly. So, she got another bath this morning. Lucky her!
