I was wondering about the partridge silkies. I know the true partridge are supposed to be the red/orange and black. But what is it that has the orange and black body but silver neck and hackles? Is it just a DQ because of off colored hackles? Or is it something different? Maybe a partridge and blue partridge cross? New to partridges. Any info would be great. Just saw something called a blonde partridge... Is id legit or just a mutt?

Do you have pics ? A Partridge, Gold and Black patterned (gold gened) bird shouldnt be able to have Silver leakage. A roo that is split for both Silver and gold genes usually looks more like a Silver patterned breed with just a litte gold coming through. But hens cant be split, they are either gold or silver.

I'm not sure what calicos look like but I guess anything is possible... I wasn't able to get pics today(camera was dead) but I will post some tomorrow morning/afternoon. Would love to know what you all think.

Here is the roo in question. He doesn't look excellent, he just went through a molt. Tell me what you think!

Yeah, honsetly, it just looks like a duckwing with something else coming through. It looks kind of like someone tried making Salmon - silver wheaten w/mahogany. Instead, they probably used partridge. ("gray")

I don't know anything about his history or what the goal was with him. If I was aiming for calico, what could I breed him with? If it's just red leakage, that sure is a heck of a lot! I don't know....Whatever he is, I think he's neat. I would just like to know what he is and what my options are with him. Thanks everyone for your input.
