oooooh sigh.

LOL try a used tv on craigslist they have older ones on there. We have to get a new one soon my dad wants a big flat screen that hangs on the wall.

I'm not sure if you have any around you, but the Salvation Army stores also carry older TV's. You're not alone, most folks want something simple, and our version of simple isn't the 12 year olds

We did a lot of research online before we went into the store to get one.

Bluemoon

Buy a microwave and turn it on and watch the glass plate deal spin around. It's at least as entertaining and enlightening as anything I've seen on t.v.

Whatever happened to "The Rockford Files"-type shows?

( ..me running off to put on theme song....)

(now, me dancing to the theme song, be glad I don't have one of those cams hooked up to the internet)

You may as well give in to the technobabble.
My set was circa 1986 when it started turning everyone on it into Smurfs.

Since the New Age of DTV was imminent I gave in and price-shopped online for a flat panel HDTV.
It was either that or get the old set fixed then buy a converter box for it.

I ended up at Target and walked out with a 32" LCD HDTV that was light enough so I could easily carry it myself. Setting it up was a piece of cake - these things are practically idiot-proof (and I say that as a Certified Technical Idiot).

Compared to that, it took all my strength and then some to lug the old set into the garage where it sat for months until I could drag it out for the trashmen to pick up.
It was an old 27" and it weighed about a metric ton!

Of course my fluky electric makes it necessary to rescan the channels about once a month - no biggie. All onscreen menu-driven, even I can do it

We switched to Uverse, got a new lower bill and the remote from Hades. I'm the only idiot in the house who can't figure out how to switch modes, record things, etc. Even the seven year old can do it. I CAN"T...........

we bought a new flat tv at tax return time. the 12yro were very annoying, finally we looked at the Picture, and picked the one that tiled least (made squares) we got a 52" sony bravio ( or something like that) for $1000, they "12yo" then asked us if we wanted them to come hook it up for us. we said no, and he tried being all huffy. well Sirah, WE dont have cable or satalite etc. His face was Priceless!!! wanna know what we use it for??? its my computer montier. we get netflix and ya know alot of tv stations put their shows online now (for free) cable internet costs me $20/mo and netflix $10. between the networks free shows, youtube, hulu and netflix, i have anything i actually want to watch! oh and the 360 games are Awesome on here!

My personal knowledge. 720 does not work for high definition, it makes a cruddy picture. 1080 all the way.
