OH MY!!!!!! I love BYC for ALL of it!!!! I am getting my Great Dane puppy on July 4th and I am soooooo looking forward to showing off his pics on here...to friends I KNOW will appreciate seeing him and talking about him. I love chickens. Love to talk about chickens. But then, you talk chickens and you make friends!!!! OH DEAR.....then I want to share otehr stuff....if I didn't do it here the phone would have to be stuck to the side of my head all day every day and I STILL couldn't cover as much ground!!!

Good garden o' peas! I can't speak of course for everyone, just me and this is how "I" feel about BYC and it's members. These people are my friends and I care about them. I can't be bothered to get upset with those who don't agree even though it may seem that way at times. Heck I nearly drove to "hudson valley" to take some of my chickens to someone who lost theirs. And I recall that Da Mon (I think) and I kinda got into it or so some thought. He's in LA and I thought "boy I oughta go down there for a visit". Maybe I'm naive but I really think the feeling is mutual by some.
If you gotta problem and I say I'll pray for you and someone else doesn't, so what. I've got 4 kids and they ain't all the same. Some don't even go to church anymore cause their grown but I haven't disowned them and bailed on them and I won't you. Seems to me this forum has brought people together who have at least "TWO" things in common, chickens and a caring heart for their fellow chicken lovers. It has become an important part of my life and connected me to people all over the world. I've learned alot about chickens and things in other parts of the world. There I said it! If ya don't like it well guess what, I'm gonna pray for you and you can't stop me! If you don't care then

Besides, is there ANYTHING that truly doesnt have something to do with chickens?
For instance, I need a house organizing system, because I spend so much time outside....
I garden because I have so much chicken poop....
I have to exercise more to burn off the calories from all those eggs I'm eating....
I wish diapers weren't so expensive, 'cause then I could buy more chicks....
Why does so-and-so politician think we need to do such-and-such for the economy, when a chicken in every yard would save the world from depression!!!!

I am a very new member and this is the first forum I have ever been on but I have to say BackYardChickens Forum is just the bee's knees! I have learned so much, being a newbie to chickens and everyone who has responded to my inquiries has been great! There are always differences of opinion but that is what makes it special. You can take what you like and what you think will work for you and go with it. Personally, I enjoy the Random Ramblings - like a group of friends from all over getting together to chat - truly the proverbial "hen party"!!

Not to leave the guys out - it is really neat as well to see the guys jump into girly sorts of posts and give their opinions. It really puts a new perspective on a lot of issues to have the total diversity of responses, information and opinions. Please, please BYC mods, don't change a thing...you all had the foresight and ingenuity to set this forum up so that people can share their knowledge - book learning, life experience, from the heart - on so many topics and that is what truly makes this place special.

Isn't BYC very much like a Chicken Coop:
stop and think about it,
We are all together in one place but there are those who wonder off to do their own thing.
the Big Rooster and his Mods are always watching over us giving us a sense of stability and safety.

So no matter what the topic is, good bad or indiferent this Forum runs better than some well oiled machines.

occasionally I see someone go a little off the deep end and its usually put to a close eventually. There are still plenty of chicken discussions as well, IMHO

Ive tried other forums for other topics but this is the first one where I was instantly part of the group and welcomed with open arms. Even though it was many months after I joined till I got my chicks I was still part of the group. Try some other forums and see what goes on, I can assure you many are MUCH worse.
