The only thing a person has no choice but to pay, is taxes. If they will pay it charge it. My hens are not laying yet but i plan on charging $3 a dozen, regardless of what it costs to feed them. The ladies will still never in a million years pay off there coop i built them lol.
Although i would never pay $5 for a dozen eggs, some people cant or have no desire to raise chickens therefore it is worth it to them.
