Has anyone else noticed the price on your feed has risen alot!! I remember when i could buy a bag of layer for $6.20 and then i thought that was exspensive...now its up to $9.39 for layer and 10 something for chick starter...and just corn is $9.39...and scratch is now more exspensive than layer...these are the prices from the Big R in my town...has anyone else noticed the prices going up? Does anyone know why its so exspensive right now?

Yes layer went up to about $10.00 and gamebird feed has went up a lot almost $11.00 its very crazy this from Rural King in Illinois.
  3. Both stores around here it varies, guess based on what they pay.

But this past trip it was actually $1 cheaper than the trip before... can be annoying when it's the other way around of course, but I'd this than them just charging really high all the time just in case.

Yes if I go to Rural King chick starter went up 1 dollar and scratch grains almost 2 dollars layer up a dollar. I get my layer from Garvers which is a little feed store in town their layer is 11.99 a bag but my girls like it better than Rural King and I was getting soft shell eggs when I fed them the ones from Rural King now that I use Garvers I dont get the soft shell. Garvers wants 12.99 for the chick starter.

Everything here jumped $1 per bag. I now pay 10.50 for 50 pounds of layer feed.

Quote:I hated Garver's chicken feed...so many weevils in their feed. And my chickens didn't thrive on it at all. However if you were ordering Purina chicken feed thru them, [IMG]

My feed has also gone up about a $1 but gosh, that was a couple of months ago so it seems like yesterday's news to me. [IMG]
It was really dry this summer, that hurt the corn and soybean crops around here they said.

Yep- Flock Raiser is almost $14 a bag at Tractor Supply- and I need 2 bags a week [IMG] Scratch & chick start have gone up too. I heard that congress is considering letting the ethanol subsidies expire at the end of the year- if that happens I *think* the price of corn will eventually come back down. [IMG]
