Since I'm a noobie at having chickens, I'm wondering about my roosters behavior. For the past week he doesn't let the hens go outside of the hen house. They all seem to be afraid of him. Are roosters suppose to be separated from the hens? From day one he seems to be watching over them. The first day I brought them home he tried rounding them up to show where the water and food was. I'm just afraid that he may be keeping them from water, food and exercise. Also, is it normal for the hens to be afraid of him? I don't know what to do.
