Is it normal for chickens to eat feathers?

I noticed some of my chickens are eating feathers. Is this normal or is there something wrong?

If they are picking bare spots on each other or themselves, yes something may be wrong. If they are picking up and eating feathers just laying around, nothing unusual at all.

I've seen mine pick up a feater or two once a week or so. But when you consant feather eaters, it's a sign of a protein deficiancy.

a few times i see my chickens eat a small feathers. when my goose was younger she had a taste for feathers and would wander around the yard eating any feathers she could find
