Is it normal?

Is it normal for chicks to scratch themselves? They are 2 1/2-3 weeks old and getting their feathers. When I hold them I don't get any bugs on me. Is it like when we have itches? It seems kind of funny to ask but still wondering?

The first time you see them having an itch fest, it's prudent to check for mites. Typically though you are going to see some itching. Chicks are growing new feathers at a very rapid rate. Growing those feathers in is itchy.
