Is it ok for my hens to be evicted from the brooder?

Yes kick them out! Keep them confined to the coop for a few days so they get used to it and see it as home; we didn’t do that the first time and had to gather them every night and put them in the coop. Oops!
I’ve read that could happen, so we’ve blocked the nesting boxes up and had them out there Over the weekend during the day. Oh my goodness, they were jumping around and chirping and exploring and SO much happier. I think I’m moving them today!

Lol, putting chicks outside to explore for the first time is the joy of my life 😂. Seriously

.... and nice coop. I would totally live there.
Thank you. I was so dang proud of him, he loved doing it. He wasn’t sold on getting chickens at all, but when I “challenged” him to make this, he went straight to work. Every day for two weeks after work and every weekend he was working on it. I adore that coop! Everybody wins!

Too funny. Someone at the gym asked me if the guy with the chickens was my husband (we go at different times due to our work schedules). I said No. They are My chickens. He is just my farm hand 😂😂

Usually you can move your birds outside at 6 weeks but if they aren't fully feathered I would move them outside and just put extra bedding in the coop and maybe get a heat plate for the coop?

I’m telling you, I stand there and just stare at them like a creeper. Lol! Even while in the brooder, I just go sit with them and watch. Who knew it would be so therapeutic!!
I know, I never thought this would happen to me. Plus it’s great to sit and watch your chickens; when you get to know their individual personalities, it’s easier to know when something is wrong.

At 6 weeks, they shouldn’t need a heat plate in the coop; the coop alone will keep them out of direct winds and elements. Personally, I believe any kind of heat in a coop is a fire hazard.
