Today I killed 5 or 6 doves that were in my run eating all my feed. I killed them because I knew they would come back. I track them by pulling 3 of their tail feathers but I know which to pull so It wont hurt them when they fly around. The 6 doves had 3 tail feathers missing. They came back 5 times and ate all my feed. I feel really bad for killing them but do you guys think its morally OK to kill pest birds that enter your coop? I feel like sh!t right now☹️

I'm a bit confused how you could pluck tail feathers and not hurt the bird.

Personally I won't kill a bird eating my pellets. Might be a double standard since I readily kill predators and mice, but they don't cause my birds physical harm on purpose and I do rather enjoy watching them

This is a totally personal thing. If you feel bad, then it seems like it is not morally ok for you. Maybe invest in some bird netting to cover your run?
It just kind of scared me that I had to do it. When I killed one of them blood just shot out of its mouth, I dont mean dripped out of its mouth, like it just SHOT out of its mouth, it was like 2.5 more psi than your average garden hose is what it looked like. I felt really bad, but it died fast so that was good

yeah...death is bloody

I would kill a ferrel cat or stray dog before a wild bird. They eat insects .Unless it is an invasive species. Those drive me nuts .Starlings have chased away our Blue birds .They steal other birds nest .That is me .You could cover your coop with bird netting to keep them out .If you are going to kill doves .Remember that they are a game bird and in many states protected by hunting seasons .Hunting seasons are timed not interfer with mating hatching and growing out. So SSS applies here .I am def dumb and blind .And have a real bad memory.

That is where you are wrong.

You chose to kill them. There was no real need to do so, as something as simple as a bird netting would have kept them away from the chicken feed.

Bird netting is expensive thought. Where I live in AZ, it could cost up to 300 USD for chicken wire all over my coop. I knew those damn doves would be back. Besides, Doves are not even native to the US. They came here all because 3 doves escaped a pet shop in the Caribbean.
