Is it ok to put this thermometer / hydrometer inside the incubator?

i use a meat injector with the long metal needle , so the hole is much smaller,
that therm' is perfect i have several type and it's the only one that gets used

have you decided on a bator yet?
i have a genesis 1588 with an lg turner, the lg turner holds the same # of eggs but take up less room, leaves room for the therm' to sit so it can always be seen

p.s add a tiny bit of food coloring to see the water level,

You got it. Turns out I didn't really need the 2nd hole. If, I fill the center tray when I remove the auto-turner, it stays full until the hatch is over. The one hole for the other tray works out great. It's really hard to see the water level when the turner and eggs are in there. I can see how high it is by blowing air in the tube and seeing the bubbles. It also makes it easy to suck some water back out, if I get it too full.

What wat did you say about removing the egg turner? You dont leave it in there throughout the whole process?

I don't know why this never occurred to me but am I supposed to remove the egg turner at a certain point during incubation?

If so, how do I do this without disrupting the eggs?

Yea, you need to take the turner out for the last three days. If, you leave it in, they make a mess out of it when they hatch. I just take them out and set them in a carton for a few minutes, while I'm getting everything set to go for hatching. Some people set them in cartons with the bottom cut out and go ahead and leave them in that for the hatch. Keeps the new ch cks from playing soccer with the un-hatched e ggs.

Why do u have to cut the bottoms out of the eggs cartons? Cant you just put the eggs in the egg cartons and leave them there for the last 3 days?

It screws up the humidity without the bottoms cut out. Stops the air flow around the e ggs. I tried something similar and had a real problem getting the humidity right.

That's what I do.

Hahaha then what is with everyone telling me to get something to put the eggs into. Id rather just lie them down lol. Assuming there is nothing wrong with that method.
