Is it ok?

I currently own 10 chickens and they are in dire need of a new coop, I found a really nice one but it says that it’s suitable for 8 chickens. Would it be possible for them to fit in there comfortably? Or would it be inhuman or would it be possible?

Can you post a link to the coop you are thinking of buying so we can see it?


I am guessing that this is a pre-made coop.
9.9 times out of 10 a pre-made coop claims a certain amount of birds will fit in the coop.
The truth is that probably only half that number, if even that many, would fit comfortably.

The best thing to do is look at the exact measurements of said coop and do some basic math.
Is there at least or close to four square feet of floor room PER bird inside the coop?

Welcome! Ten birds need at least forty sq. ft. in their coop, and that's really a tight fit. More space would be much better. Also about one hundred sq. ft. of run space in addition.

Agreed with Mary. Does this coop have 40 s.f. of floor space? Don't skimp on your coop/run space. Doing so will result in possible injury (or worse) to your birds.
