Is it okay to feed chickens basil?

Is it okay to feed chickens basil? Just curious... Basil is the only thing we got around to planting this year in the garden and we have a lot of it. My girls would love the new treat.......
 
yeah i feed mine that since we also have alot growing around but mine dont like it too much maybe since its a strong taste.
 
I grow several varieties of basil and mint. I trim it when it becomes overgrown and throw in the run...adds a wonderful smell. I leave weeds/grass/etc. that I pull from garden in the run for a day or two, then rake and put in the compost pile.
 
Mine won't eat it either. Go figure.

Dumb chickens. Try making pesto sauce with it and serve it over pasta; I bet they'll eat it then. I certainly would!
