I might help him in a little bit by pulling some of the shell away in a line. Actually if he doesnt show any progress by morning I will help him but hopefully he shows some improvement tommrow, and hope maybe some of the other eggs will pip, this is nerve racking on the first hatch they piped and then I went shopping with my grams all day then fell asleep, so I was sorta busy and had stuff to pass the time but now, now im hanging at the edge of my seat.
I wouldn't intervene unless it is past the hatch date and it has been more than 24 hours since it started peeping.
I have had chicks peep for more than 24 hours in the shell before pipping, but it was still before the hatch date, so I left them be and they all came out fine. The last one I hatched was rocking the egg and peeping for almost 48 hours before it pipped, then it was 12 hours before it hatched. It seems like forever, but its best to give them a chance to do it themselves before and only intervene when it's absolutely necessary.
The hardest part of hatching is backing away from the incubator and leaving them alone!!
Every time the incubator is opened, all the humid air is let out and they need the air to be humid so that the egg membrane wont dry out or stick to the chick.
