my LF light sussex bred my banty (no clue what kind of banty), and one of her eggs have hatched so far.
all 3 of my sussex hens went broody and started sitting on eggs, so i let them. before that, the banty's eggs were infertile. however, whilst the LF hens were sitting, he figured out where he was supposed to be with the banty. the LF had some of the banty's eggs mixed with theirs, but i didn't want to mess with them and get them off the nests. 2 hens left the nests, and i was about to throw 6 banty eggs away and decided to candle, just to be sure. sure enough, 3 were fertile and about 2 weeks along.
my chick is doing fine, just slightly smaller than the LF chicks
bantams are just LF bred down to banty size. just as you would breed selecting for coloration, pattern, etc., you would keep breeding only the smallest birds to the smallest birds, breed the smallest of those smallest to.......
