Is it possible to mouse-proof a run?

Just a thought... You could try using fishing line to hang the feeder. I don't think a mouse could climb down that. Ants can't even climb down it. (I use it to hang humming bird feeders) You could even use it to extend it down to a weight for a little more stability.

Heck I cant mouse proof my house, dont think you can mouse proof a run. Best thing mouse proof your feeder. set traps for those that find your run. Dead mice dont return.

I would be careful with mouse bait, because Warfin can kill birds, too. I met a lady whose Peacocks died that way.

You need to encourage your NEIGHBOR's cats to patrol for you. MY cats have found our "non-cat owner" neighbors and, in their own little neighborly way, they "do the right thing." Cats that wander are generally good mousers. They're ONLY dangerous to baby chicks.

I keep water in the run, but not feed. They have to go into the coop to get their feed. While they are in the run they eat grass, bugs, and insects. It works for them and I think they enjoy going back into the coop every so often. Well at least they have never complained.

not completely true about the cats. we have a tall baby gate in our house and our cat jumped over it, when i tried to get her out she tried to run through the gate. got most of her body though and her hips got stuck and freaked out. i had to help her get out.
