Is it possible to save this egg?

Looks like she's probably a girl, too!

I wanted to let you know I used your video to show my incubator-sitter how to assist a shrink wrap. (Mine wasn't cracked, but pipped upside down, not through the air cell, and then needed a couple extra days to finish preparing to hatch.) The chick made it out okay with help! Thanks for the video.

Wow this is wonderful news!! I've had several eggs pipped the wrong end. One I assisted and was fine. One died before it pipped and the rest came out on their own. I'm glad my experience could help someone else.

Miracle is now 5 weeks old. Her and her siblings are becoming very friendly despite the mother hen attacking my hands all the time. The little chicks want to play with their older (8 weeks) siblings but the mom refuses and just attacks the older chicks. The chicken madness continues. I am considering removing my rooster and letting the hens share coop space with the older chicks and see if they can get along. Then try adding the rooster back later. Miracle is doing great so far. She is so cute and she comes over to jump on me now.

I've been following this story, it's amazing how the egg break didn't totally ruin this chick's chances of surviving, good job you were there to help <3

That being said, 5 weeks old, this is looking suspiciously 'rooish' to me, but maybe I'm wrong! But what is definite, is that it is a gorgeous bird indeed.

I took more pictures today to show a comparison of her to her brothers. 4 out of 6 in this flock are cockerels. She only has a sister it seems.
This first picture is her in the background eating watermelon and her brothers in front. You see the difference?
Pic 2-4 is Miracle herself.
The rest of the pictures are various pictures of the rest of her siblings.

Seems the Delaware/Wyandotte crosses are very pretty birds with their incomplete lacing and scattered barring all over.

Oh good, I do hope they are hens! I'm not too familiar with Delawares so not sure on their progress speeds. I just go by the generic rule of any pink in the comb under 8 weeks usually leans towards a cockerel. This isnt always the case though, birds be birds, they do their birdy thing and we can only guess 😁

I really hope she's a pullet. I do not want to part with this little Miracle chick. I noticed my photos uploaded kind of backwards. My first photo went to the bottom and started that way. Lol anyway you can see the comparisons are at least hopefully that she is a she.

Delawares are usually easy to tell very early on. I could tell Miracles dad was a male by 14 days. The feathering gives it away very early too. Males have a lot of barring/spots on the shoulder area and the tail feathers are barred instead of having solid black. Some females have more barring in those areas but usually by looking at the whole bird it is easy to tell early on. My males have developed combs and wattles very quickly and then you see the feathers and can tell.

You seem more educated than I am on delawares for sure, so go with your instinct and I hope miracle is a hen too! Such a beautiful little thing 🥰

@SweetieChicken234
I hope you can keep Miracle even if she is really a he. Such a beautiful little “Miracle” chicken. ❤️ They are ALL so adorable, and Mama’s a beauty.

Miracle 6 weeks +2 days. Not the best pictures but I was a ways off zooming in. She was eating new grass with her mom.

Edit: forgot to add that Miracle is really interesting looking. She has the few solid black parts on her tail feathers AND laced tail feathers. It is the coolest thing. What an interesting bird.
