Is it Possible?

*sure, animals know and anticipate our normal schedules, recognize the sound of our vehicles, and get distraught at significant changes-- their schedules depend on ours!! Sometimes even non-domesticated animals use this. I've seen rats at the zoo come out to raid trash cans at the sound of the horn that meant the zoo was closed -- to people, anyway-- dinnertime for them! We even have an egret in a town near that uses the crosswalk at a very busy 4-way intersection, and uses it WAY better than a majority of the people!! He (she?) never crosses against the light, never jaywalks, & ALWAYS waits until the traffic stops completely.

Most animals seem to be flock/pack/family orientated. They might suffer stress when a member is absent and so get excited when they return. A friend gave me two of her hens and the rest started to moult shortly after. It appeared to be a stress reaction to the loss of the two flock members. The two she gave me have not moulted yet.

I have no idea about the driving up part but all 12 of my chickens start chattering when the sliding glass door opens and the dachshund runs out barking. They get very excited knowing I am right behind her and treats are probably in my hands!! They really are just like any other spoiled rotten pets

Same here, the door slides and they come running up to the fence, only difference I have a (black) Pug and he loves the birds and doesn't bark at them. He does jump them and hold them down if they get out. The funniest thing he holds them until I say OK then he let them go and I pick them up, and he is so gentle with them.

I have a hearding PUG!!

That is funny Rosemarie!!! You know I just thought about the morning times and they certainly know when it is 7am!! I left the ramp down from the "A" part of their coop, where they roost at night down at 7am every mrning and ig I am late even 5 minutes the chattering going on inside there is hilarious!! They do have some intrnal time association!! Need to get me one of those herding pugs though for when they get loose!!

Very nice! They must think you're their master! Chickens are very lovable creatures. Great job! My chickens do that every morning, especially my youngest RIR!

Mine definitely knew the sound of my Jeep. There were a couple of times that DH & I went out to run errands and let Priscilla (handicapped housechicken) outside. We were gone longer than SHE liked and she was ready to go inside.

As we got closer to the house, we could see Priscilla making her way to the driveway. Before we pulled into the driveway, she is already standing there, in my Jeep's spot, and she's sqawking up a storm! She's funny when she's mad!

I miss my Jeep Cherokee. It was sitting in the driveway last summer and somebody ran off the road, T-boned the Jeep and totaled it.

I had a rooster that would come up the steps of the back deck and crow at the gate when somebody pulled into the driveway. I could tell when the man from the electric company came to read the meter--Kanga (the rooster) would crow non-stop and watch every move that man made.

ROFL! So do I! Mine is a fawn and he doesn't hold them down like that but he does chase around them in a circle to round them up, then he runs at the center of the group to scatter them all. He's been very disappointed this winter since we're down to two adult hens. He'll be a happy boy when all our chicks are grown up and living outdoors!
My hens also know the sound of the sliding glass door. If they're still locked up tight and I open it in the morning I can hear them start to move around. If they're out and someone opens it they come running to see if treats are involved. They are a lot smarter than some give them credit for.
