Is it possible?

Is it possible for a chicken to lay more than one egg in a 24 hour period? I recently bought some farm fresh eggs from someone and she told me that one of the reasons farm fresh eggs taste better is that they are richer because commercially egg producers 'force' their chickens to lay 2 eggs per day. Also, my parents' neighbour has a couple of chickens and told me that her RIR has laid an egg in the morning and another in the afternoon a couple of times.

An Egg Cycle can take 16-24 hours minimum. So 2 in a day happens and I have had a few hens that did it.
