Topic says it all. Have about 5 eggs that are pipped and will likely be ready for the brooder tomorrow. Can I put these new chicks with babies that are 1 week old today or will they pick on the new guys too much? Plenty of room in the brooder. Otherwise will have to set up a second one. Double the cleaning etc..

I read somewhere on here that you shouldn't but I did

The new babies cuddle up with the older chick and they all sit together.

I have done it before. Depends on how many and temperment. Just keep a CLOSE eye on them and if they start picking on them- separate! Make sure the new guys are COMPLETELY dry first as the others will pick on wet chicks. Good Luck

I just put some 2 1/2 week old baby chicks with some 3 day old baby chicks and they are doing just fine together. I have done this in the past before and have never had an issue. Thats just my personal experience.

You could put them together and monitor them for a bit.

wow, i was gonna ask almost the same thing.

i have 11 ee chicks that are 3 days old, and when i put the 5 1 day olds in with them, they fluffed out their wings and went flying at the new ones. i'm guessing then that the ee's are just territorial?

my friend is hatching out the other 1/2 of the 5 that i hatched, so i guess i'll try to incorporate into the ones i hatched out yesterday. maybe lt brahma's and barreds wont be quite as mean.
