Is it still possible to tame two week old red golden pheasant chick as a pet?

Hello everyone. The breeder ran out of the younger pheasant chicks. All he has left are five-week old pheasant chicks. Will I have a difficult time taming a single five-week old pheasant chick? The only pheasant breeds he has available are ringnecks and majestic mutants.

Or should I wait until next year when the next breeding season starts? But I have read information that one week old baby pheasant chicks are easily prone to dying.

I wouldn't try with 5 week old birds. It would be better to wait until next season.
Don't know where you read that 1 week olds are prone to dying?....they are not prone anymore than anyother 1 week old chick of any bird.
Also, it's not majestic mutants, they are called melanistic mutants....Phasianus colchicus mutans.
There are Black, Green and Blue melanistics and many color variations among the three.

Also considered 'green' but have more of the common ringnecked genes showing in their phenotype. They may have a full broad ring around the neck or a partial thin ring or only a few white feathers in their neck collars, or none.

Both the Green and Blue hens look similar. The Black hens will be black and not the chocolate color of the Green or Blue.

The breeder on craigslist sold me a 3 week old pheasant chick this afternoon. The breeder said the chick is most likely female and is undergoing a molt.

Below is a photo of the chick in a travel carrier while driving home. However, it has been 6 hours since I brought her home and she will not eat or drink yet. Is this normal? How long until she starts to eat and drink water? I bought a bag of game bird chick starter feed that contains 30% protein. I also gave some dried mealworms, but she won't eat it either.

This bird is older than 3 weeks, it is a hen and is probably still molting?
Have you moved her to the pen she will be housed in or is she still in the travel carrier?
She should start eating and drinking soon....when she becomes accustomed to her new surroundings.

The breeder said she is around 3 weeks old.

She is in her large cage now. The photo showing the travel carrier was taken during the car ride home.

I hope my pheasant chick won't get sick or die from not eating.

I have also noticed that my female pheasant chick makes a hissing sound. I hope this is not a sign of Avian bird flu or another respiratory illness of some kind.

She doesn't mind me petting her while she is in her cage. She does not freak out by jumping around like a wild bird. She appears to enjoy my presence.

I am just worried about her lack of appetite to the gamebird starter feed and the dried mealworms. Hopefully she will eat tomorrow morning.

How long until my pheasant chick will be tame enough that I can bring her to PetSmart while she is perching on my arm wearing a bird harness?

And to reduce her anxiety and tendency to run away from me, how much dosage of this avian calming supplement should I give her daily?

@Birdrain92 was able to tame his peafowl, so read some of his posts.

You should not give her any of that.
