Is it still possible to tame a two week old red golden pheasant chick as a pet? Or is this age past the point of taming?

I heard that taming a pheasant is best done with food. How do I go about taming a two week old pheasant chick? Do I just leave water in a bowl inside their pen without any feed? And then do I offer the feed on the palm of my hand so that the pheasant chick can associate my presence being related to food?

I don’t have the pheasant yet. The breeder is selling them on Craigslist and he has 2 pheasant chicks that are two weeks old. He doesn’t want to sell me just one. He wants me to take both. Are they still young enough to tame? Or are they just as hard to tame as a fully grown adult pheasant since they are already two weeks old now?

Is taming two pheasant chicks harder than taming just one pheasant chick?

I found this Instagram profile about an incredibly tame Ringneck Pheasant. This is my inspiration.

With 2, they're likely to imprint on each other, not you. Imprinting in humans is what makes some animals so tame

The reason for having more than 1 chick is for the company but not necessary if you want it as pet. The training would be better with 1 chick. So the chick in training doesn't get influenced by another bird.

But at 2 weeks is a good start, you'll need to schedule your training to make it consistent for the chick and for yourself.

The training might take 6 months to a year.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll use dried mealworms in my hand to tame the chick. And try to have the chick perch on my lap or shoulder. Hopefully this will tame the chick over the course of time.

Ringnecked pheasants are way more flighty than some other pheasants. I never tried to make a pet of one of mine nor tame them, so really can't give any advice on how to tame one.

Goldens and Amherst are fairly easy to tame. I've had a few of mine sit on my shoulder, eat out if my hand and if I would sit on the ground in their pen, they'd climb all over me!...only thing that upset them was a stick, rake, hoe or a rifle, ie; looked like a stick to them! :D
