i had chickens 3 years ago and they were the most beutiful animals my uncle school was hatching them so i asked him for 2 and he got me them. I gave them my love and undevided attention they made me laugh all the time they were so cute everyone loved them and asked if they ever have babies if they can get one i said sure if they decide to. I had a rooster and a hen and i figured it was a rooster after its comb got big and one was a femal they love eachother and they loved me. I remeber on cold days wed hudle on the bench outside and stay like that for an hour theyd fall asleep and id hold them and felt like never letting go. The rooster began crowing everyone loved its beutiful crow except one old cranky man who was mean. A letter had come from the municipal office saying chickens are illegal and id have to get rid of them in 40 days i couldnt stop crying and went into depression and i am still in it i have become hostile and cruel it has become a second nature i gave my babies to my friends cousins farm and think about them sometimes. I remeber crying in their coop and them hudling next to me. I tried to fill the empty gap and tryed every pet there was none of them were like my babies. Now i want to take a risk i want to get only female bantams such as seramas and maybe hide a roo inside our house maybe. Is it worth it to be happy again to finally be joyful and kind. What would happed if they figured out again somehow what would the city do my parents are so dramatic saying theyll take our house kick us out of state i mean im talking about one serama hen not robbing a bank so i rly need advice on this plz help me.

WOW i wrote a lot

Have you checked into what the city ordinances actually say? Its possible it was only the rooster that was the problem and you are allowed to have a certain number of hens. Your parents are right that it is best to stay within the law, but if the law says you are allowed hens, perhaps you can be happy without a rooster until you are older and can move to an area where roosters are allowed.

282-1 Possession of Forbidden Animal
It shall be unlawful for any person to keep or maintain swine, goats, cattle, horses, other livestock or ducks, geese, pigeons, chickens or other fowl within the Township of "blank" on any private or public plot of land or other premises.
this is what the law says and i even asked them myself the lady was a bit ignorant and old and said she doesnt wvwn have to look bcuz it illegal then i went and asked about ducks that they were illegal too i called and asked they said its illegal

i heard people legalizing chickens but it seems no one here want to help but i dont know im not the leader type and im still young and no one listens to me but i never tried

im allowed to have any sort of animals on my propery, and i liv in a suberb near lansing. i have 5 chickens, all girls, and people down the road have horses. The only rule is that i cant start a breeding company from the chickens.

I think you should get some chickens. theyre such a joy, and girls are way more quiet tan the rooseters. I have a cranky neighbor too, and everyday, im scared he will call the city, but i give hm eggs frim my girsl, so it makes us even :) just get all girls chicken, and dont tell anyone that you have the chicks. have fun!

Are there not an exception for 4H activities? Maybe you should try and be part of something like that. On one of the threads here was something about a boy who went to the city council in his boy scout uniform and made an presentation to the board to change the law and allow a few hens. It was granted. You can use the being young as a plus. You should not see that as a negative. Your parents will most likely help you to work it out trying to live within the law and those laws can be changed.

what is 4h active and its not that i have terrible stage fright i might get a heart attack doing a public speech and no one seems interested not even my parents
