Simple answer NO
Most quality feeds will run in the $15-$20 per 50lb bag range. Budget feeds will be sub $15 range. Budget feeds likely meet the minimum requirements needed for you birds.
Quality feeds usually have added ingredients along with higher lysine and quality proteins.
Ok so with that. Lets say a feed says, Layer Feed 14 percent protein.
One bag is 9 dollars
One bag is 16 dollars
One bag is 31 dollars.
If they ALL say 14 percent protein. Is there any rule, law or something saying that's USABLE protein, or nutritional protein they have to be listing and not just total protein?
You say the more expensive stuff will probably have higher quality protein. Can you please explain what higher quality protein is over a lower quality? If it comes from more expensive stuff, but essentially is the same thing, then is it really a better quality?
Ill use salt as an example.
Salt. Sodium Chloride. NaCl.
I can make it in a laboratory
I can get it from sea water
I can get it from other sources.
I can market it with all sorts of lies and spin to make you think MY NaCl, is somehow better, but at the end of the day, it's all, just NaCl and the romantics of the advertisement don't mean a thing.
Let me give an example of more deception. Again lets use Salt.
Sea Salt. People LOVE it for some reason, oh it's more pure, it taste better, bla bla woof, whatever garbage they fed you to buy their salt. People pay good money for their Sea Salt, because in their eyes, it's somehow better NaCl.
Salt is Salt, I don't care what any marketing maroon tries to say.
Studies have shown that people like Sea Salt because it taste better. The reason it taste better is because it has OTHER minerals in it, ie impurities .. that give it the different flavor that people seem to like. The sea salt is more preferable to people because of the impurities in it that make it taste different / better, than plain ole absolutely pure salt.
So now we see 'Pure Sea Salt' being advertised as somehow superior to..... exactly what I don't know.
Pure Sea Salt....
It's definitely NOT pure, it's got all that other flavorful stuff in it. So exactly what ARE they selling, PURE, Impurities??? What impurities are allowed to keep the Impurities pure, versus what impurities would make the impurities impure????
Marketing, they hung the big fat worm, you bit it and ran.. just like a chicken with a June Bug.
