Is James a Starling?

I rescued a starling baby last year just like that one. I soon realized that I could do it no justice in raising it, and put it back outside where I found it. Within 30 minutes, the baby and mama and her helpers made it across my 2 acre front yard and into brush, where I watched it come out daily with mother bird for the next couple of weeks in search of food. (on the ground) He lived and I had the joy of knowing I did just what Mother Nature would. James has more feathers than the one I found, so I'd bet Mom was teaching him to fly. In a week, he'll have enough feathers of his own to fly shakily. I would really suggest you put him back where you found him, unless there is no vegetation where he can hide from predators. My starling baby fell from his nest at the top of my pine trees which are 3-4 storeys tall. If there really is no place for him to hide, then I'd keep him, but call a local bird rescue and try and get some more information on raising him. Here are a few links that may help you out, I wish you the very best of luck with your newfound friend!:
