Is laying on the ground normal?

our almost year old chicken started laying on the ground, when i go out to check on her she springs up and runs away, but when i leave she is laying on the ground sideways again. is this normal or concerning?

I think you mean stretching her body out on the ground. Yes they like to lay on their sides and soak up the sun.

If she's otherwise healthy, eating and drinking, it's perfectly fine. She's sunning herself

It sounds normal to me. Many of mine like to lay down and stretch out on a sunny day.

A hen stretching her body out on the ground is different from dust bathing. She's soaking up the sun (sunbathing), not dust bathing
