if you can isolate "him" for about a week and see what happens i would do that to try and find out for sure if this one will actully crow or if it may lay an egg

Hahaha yeah he tried to crow again this morning..... He is such a timid guy and stand LOW to the ground .... Doesn't strut around the coop like the 2 younger cockerels.

Why does he scream boy?? I am trying to learn but silkies have me so confused that Im not going to believe anyone is a girl until I see an egg .... Or a roo trying to mate her.... :/

i still would say a pullet my roo is younger then tiger and he hasn't crowed but you can tell by his comb .... i have herd people saying their hens sounded like a messed uip corw type thing but i still would say a pullet not a big enough comb to be a roo

don't worry, it's a girl, i had one hen that got really hurt so we put her in a pet carrier and took her inside. every day she would crow, of course it wasnt the perfect cock-a-doodle-do roosters make but more of a screach with only 2 sylables, none the less it was a crow, and she woke me up every morning, so untill you hear that perfect cock-a-doodle-do don't fret.

Congratulations! You got what you wanted. Happy you don't have to rehome a roo.. Out of my 10 day olds, one ended up a roo. I was devastated at first, but inching along, and actually enjoying watching him grow up. I hope he can abide by the rules, and be a nice rooster, if not, a new home or stew pot will be instore for him.
