In the Brooder
Hello everyone. Our poor araucana has had quite a rough life so far. When we introduced her along with a marans, the flock were awful and attacked both of them despite the very slow monitored introduction. Our araucana was badly injured overnight, but with a bit of care and patience came out of it. About six-ish weeks ago she laid her first egg ! We got about 2-3 weeks worth of eggs. Thought we were in the clear. Then there were 2 soft shelled eggs that she'd walked on, and then one normal egg, and now nothing for 2 weeks.
She's never been a particularly boisterous thing, but the last week particularly she definitely seems slow. Today the marans has been pecking at her quite a bit. We're worried that she'll cannibalise her, perhaps learning it during their week in with the main flock (6 chickens, the ISA browns and leghorn were the meanest)
Her poo is normal, I can't find any evidence of her being egg bound, inspected her and didn't notice anything suspicious. It's really just her apparent lethargy and lack of eggs. She limped a little yesterday but is walking normally today.
I'm not sure what to do now ... does anybody have any suggestions ?
edited to add - after they were attacked by the flock we moved them to a seperate pen where they've been living happily, until now !
