I hatched some chicks from my hens' eggs a while ago. I was hoping for a roo in the clutch because my roo died recently. One of my chicks' comb and wattle is very large, but it doesn't crow at all, but it tries to take on the bigger chick. Could someone help and tell me what gender my chicks are? The first picture is of my 2 month old Bantam Cochin (I think its a girl), the second is also a 2 month old Bantam Cochin (Is he a roo?). Are their combs supposed to be that big, or small already?

Hi.

I love the pics of your babies..
I have a feeling you might get more answers over in the " What Breed or Gender .." forum, and you might end up getting moved over to it by the moderator.

First of all, how old are the babies?

And secondly, Im no expert, but I do have Barred Rocks, but your babies look more like mine more than Cochins..

Again, just my observation..

If they are the same age, I would venture to guess that the 2nd pic is a Roo..

Anyway, enjoy the babies and thanks for sharing..
