Is my barred rock a rooster?

He/She is about 9 weeks old. The tail feathers look rooster like to me.

Curious, what are you looking at that determines a pullet? I am looking at the light plumage and the tail feathers. Are there other things I should pay attention to?

Pullets - at 9 weeks tail plumage is not going to be exhibiting gender based characteristics, but what *is* showing on your birds is small, pale combs and wattles and an overall nice, even barring pattern.

Thanks, I really appreciate it! Looks like you have much more experience then I do. I was worried because of the light plumage and the tail feathers. She is actually about 12 weeks old (I re-did the math) makes no difference?

Pullet. Cockerels are much lighter overall, and would have a ton more comb now.

The surest sign of a cockerel is a large red comb. For Barred Plymouth Rocks the females usually have darker barring and the males have lighter barring.
