Hey,

I'm new to raising chicks and I have a question about a behavior I noticed about a week ago:

One of the chicks breathes with an open mouth and tilts her head back all the time. She doesn't seem to have an impacted crop and she's pretty active. Is she sick or just quirky?

I've isolated her this whole time just in case it was IBV or some other illness, just to play it safe. It doesn't seem to be getting worse or better, she's still eating and trying to escape her quarantine every chance she gets.

Thanks in advance!

yes, i started them on chick grit after the first week. would it be normal for her to adjust her crop throughout the day?

thanks y'all.

I've only raised one batch of chicks so I'm not the best person to speak to this, but mine definitely went through phases of adjusting! Also making sure they have fresh water and right temp. Can you feel her crop at all?

I also had a silkie with a weird tic that lasted about two months, then went away!
