Is my chick sleeping?

i'm a bit worried, the chicks right top eyelid has broken in half, it must have done it whilst trying to get out. what should I do? it is peeping loudly and opening and shutting its beak.

it will heal....... as soon as it's dry I would pull and place in your brooder box. I like to line mine with paper towels for the first week and use my finger to "peck" food on the paper towel next to the feeder, to get them interested. Once one knows where the food and water is, it will teach the others.

what do you mean by 'pull and place'?

I’d be hesitant to open the bator too much. Little britches should be fine for a couple of days if necessary. (Tho I might not personally be fine that long!) You May not be able to see pips on the other eggs if they’re in the shadows, obscured by neighboring eggs, etc. They could shrink-wrap if the humidity doesn’t stay reasonably consistent.

The chick was reasonable dry, having hatched abt 11.30am, so I took it out and put it under a heat lamp where its sitting drying out. The other chick already in there approached cautiously and then started pecking it, so I separated them with wire netting, hopefully until the chick gains strength and feathers.

I've dipped the chicks beak into the water a few times and dropped feed in front of it, so hopefully it understands.
