Is My Chicken Broody and What Can I Do?

You can try to keep tossing her out of the nest and putting her on the roost well after dark...but it may not do the trick. Go for the crate and get it over with.

I am making plans to get a crate tonight! Do you have any advice on how to install the wire bottom to the crate?

The first pic here.....

.....shows it pretty well.
Cut the 1x2 cage mesh leaving pieces sticking out all around,
get the mesh piece as flat as possible by carefully 'back bending' it over the edge of a table, then bend the sticking out pieces around the crate wire.
HTH.

UPDATE:

I fixed together a crate that I'm very proud of! She went in nicely and seems to have settled in. She has food and water and seems okay. Thank you to all of you who have given great advice and helped me. Keep up with this thread for more updates! :D

UPDATE:

I went out to let my broody chicken out of the wire cage to see if she would roost, and...

She went right up to the roost and settled down with her sisters! According to the advice I have read, this means she is most likely no longer broody! She seemed much more like herself, too. Thank you again to everyone for helping my girls!!
