Hmmm, strange. Molting it seems is way out of whack from this last season, apparently for all seasons for you. I have never heard of such a thing. Though I recently learned that chickens in the tropical regions don't molt like chickens in the northern hemisphere.
I am always interested in the odd stuff and in learning something new.
I keep all my chickens until the end. I couldn't imagine culling them, but many do and I respect that too. You are lucky to have chicks already. Mine aren't until May.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. I think everyone has something to contribute to the vast chicken knowledge on this site. I am still trying to figure out why molting has been so odd this past season. Some of mine molted twice, and a few are just finishing. Your situation is quite a mystery.
