Is my chicken sick or? HELP!

I did check her for mites and she's very clean. I hope it's just a case of overheating. It's 58 here tonight and she's in the garage but with a window open so she has plenty of air. She was drinking a lot so I'll continue to make sure all the girls have cool clean water. I usually change it twice a day and add ice. Gosh, I was just smiling because my girls were all doing so well and Bam!

I don't have Gatorade but I'll get some in the morning. I do have sugar. They've had watermelon rinds (frozen first). Poor thing.

Heat can kill fast. Good that it's cooling down well. You might want to consider buying some chicken medications to have on hand. Illness and injury can strike pretty fast, the sooner you start treatment, the better your chances are. Sounds like she is doing better. Good luck.

I think I might have thought of something. I was cleaning our fountain yesterday using a siphon. The water was going under the porch and Mabel, in her usual inquisitive way, was pecking at and drinking the water I was siphoning out of the fountain. I didn't think much of it, but the fountain had algae which is why I was scrubbing it down and cleaning it. Maybe Mabel got algae poisoning?

She is alert today and back with the flock. I've removed and cleaned all the water and feeders. I put shavings over the spot where the siphon drained and after my son goes to school I'll rake out the whole walk in run and sprinkle more DE. Very strange.

How is Mabel this morning? Deb
Algae is not going to hurt them, it is just a small green plant, it is found in waterers all the time. Unless you used a cleaning solution?

She's much perkier, her cheeks are back with color and she's active. She also came right over and went for strawberry tops. I'd say she's about 90% back to normal. Maybe it was just heat though odd because yesterday was much cooler than it has been. I'm just glad she's still with us!

watch her heat stress can bulid and you can still lose her, keep her cool for a few days and keep an eye on them in the next heat wave. glad shes doing better good luck
