Is my coop all wrong?!

I saw that. Hell, I could swing by on my way home from work and do it for you... for a price!! I work in Binghamton.
I'm not kidding. If you want, I can swing by and take a look and let you know what you can do. I am finishing up my own roof this weekend and if I have any caps left, I'll give them to you. They'd be a close match as I'm putting in Owen Corning Brownwood architectural. You would only need a single 4' vent. That's only about $13.
Up the hill from it?
Oh my gosh that’s amazing. The ridge vent would be the best situation after all. My son worked at BSR (for a very short stint) but I’m sure he could help. Yes, we are on Townline.

I'm telling you, I could KICK myself for not putting more thought into it (and for not joining BYC *before* I bought the coop). I've seen SO many innovative people do things with sheds for 1/2 the cost that I've put into my coop and modifications. :he

Live and learn 😭. On the plus side having this coop will prevent me from getting *too many more chooks! Lol
That’s true! I could see us getting carried away when there are only three egg eaters here. 😁

The last coop I had was 4x4x4 and I had 6 hens in their. They couldn't free range much because it was -50 and they refused to go outside. My new jersey giant started eating the other one and I had to kill it!
They were too crowded and that's why you had cannibalization. I believe I mentioned this.
If you have such temperatures that your birds won't come out, you need to greatly enlarge your coop and provide them with a covered run to which you can add wind blocking for winter protection. Mine hung out in their coop and run after this snow event as there was no where to go in their pen:

We are looking at adding a vent over the door and one on the opposite side for cross ventilation. We can’t take it back esp as I tung oiled the inside. I feel very deceived by The Hen House Collection which brochure assured it could house 8-10 chickens! So we thought six would easily fit. We also stupidly assumed that Amish built meant the Amish designed it and we figured they ought to know what they are doing. I feel so taken! 😡😡
Same! Mine is Amish built too and I am so annoyed at all the modifications I need to make!

But, if, like me, you are not comfortable cutting into the coop to add ventilation, you can make a deflector that allows air in but blocks direct drafts from hitting your chickens. I just cut up a plastic water jug and fastened it to the window frame; it directs the air up and away from my chickens.
Do you have a pic of this?

Perhaps in addition to adding the wind block I could put up some infrared heating lights in the run???
This is my winterized run:
winter run with tarps.jpg

It is noticeably warmer in there when the sun shines on it. It gains thermal heat that gets partially trapped similarly to a greenhouse. The tarps block the wind and the birds have a place to go.
But when it gets really bitter, they hunker down in the coop in the thick dry bedding I provide. Their coop is 12x8 for 23 birds, some bantams and mid-sized. They do just fine in there. I've never had any issues with aberrant behavior. I keep their food and water out in the run so they do wander out for that and to take dust baths in the run litter.
Your flock desperately needs more space. Having them cannibalize each other is no way to prove the data set on space that was provided previously.

I was wondering that too but found loads of possibilities on Amazon. For the window in front of the roost bar, I’m going to add the extender directing the air up. And for the vent that is behind their roost bar, perhaps the reg. Deflectors.
It’s infuriating that they would make it so stupidly! Even in summer we have wind and sometimes low temps, their design puts ALL the drafts in them except the pop hole. 😡
