I’ve got 19 hens about 1.5 yrs and 1 Roo. I’ve never let them hatch before because I’ve heard that letting one go broody for too long can get the others to do the same thing and quit laying. Well because we get a nest full everyday and it’s spring I guess that I’ve got two (EE/Americana and a RIR) that want to set. I can take them off and I do daily, they’ll run around a few minutes and go back in. I do collect every 1-2 days still. My question is- do I need to have a separate area for them if I choose to let them set and hatch? I’m really concerned that it will affect more than just the two of them if I choose to give in to their setting desires. I thought about building a separate space away from the others but then I thought that maybe I could put some chicken wire up between the two boxes and just let the two share the one side since that’s what they seem to be doing anyway. Thoughts?? Or would this still be too close to the others? (Pics of coop and run attached for space/design reference)
