Is my duck in pain??

Okay new developments, my call duck laid her first egg. I guess it was pushing up against her leg and that's why she was off on it. It is a pretty big egg with a soft shell. My call duck is still not any better and she's not eating. She's very weak and I'm worried. She is drinking tho.

She needs more calcium. I give my four pound duck an extra 100 mg calcium citrate twice a day for this kind of thing. So perhaps a Call duck person can confirm if 25 mg calcium citrate twice a day for a fee days might be worth a try.

And @DuckNoobie
when they first begin to lay they can lay soft shelled eggs just make sure she is getting a good amount of calcium  so it doesn't continue .

Let us know how she is doing please.

She's doing much better now...I don't want her to lay another egg to be honest. I'm afraid this will happen again. It seemed difficult for her to lay that egg. She laid it around 10pm, which is not what I typically see my other ducks do, and she was acting odd/uncomfortable all day. Maybe she's just not the egg laying type? I don't want her to go egg bound at some point. I've already increased calcium in her diet.

Is this true?!?! :-O
Thank goodness she's eating!! Phew!!

It is.

If she's new to laying (or even just picking up laying after a long hiatus) the odd timing isn't uncommon. This fall when one of my spring hatches started she didn't lay until late afternoon a few days in a row.

Yes it is a big egg. Poor thing. Hopefully once she gets going on egg laying everything will work itself out and she'll lay normal size. I have 2 female Buffs who will lay huge double yolkers at least 2X a week I want so much for them to stop that but so far they haven't listened to me. Those eggs are huge.
