Is my egg hatching???!!!!

Hey guys, today is day 22 and still no chickies. My hen is setting on her clutch of 4. Only 1 of those 4 has a crack in it altough I don't know if that means anything. I wasn't able to take a pic because she moved and is now sitting on it again. I'll describe it to you though, there is a couple cracks starting at the same point near the wide end of the egg that run towards the narrow end of the egg, where there are also some cracks. I saw the egg move but I'm not sure if that was the hen shifting her body weight or the chick moving inside. By what I just described, do you guys think this egg is hatching?

Oh, I also forgot to mention that the cracks were only subsurface yesterday but have now broken completely through the shell.

I'm no expert but I figured I'd post since you haven't gotten any answers yet. So here is my two cents.

Sounds like the egg is zipping the wrong way? I've heard of that happening before. There's a line of cracks down the egg and not around it? Sounds like a zip to me but in the wrong direction. I don't know anymore than that. I've read about people having eggs that zip the wrong way but I forgot if they survived or not.

How come you don't think it will end well? I have no idea how eggs are suppose to hatch so please help me out here. Should I throw the egg out or wait????

The way a chick hatches is this:

Pip. They poke a hole threw the shell. Usually around the wide end. Then zip. They chip away at the shell and make a line around the egg. But it sounds like your chick is going down the side of the egg which is not good. In order to hatch the chick pushes out of the shell after pipping but it wont be able to push out if the zip is the wrong way.. Oh I don't know I'm no expert but I hope your chick hatches.

Nope, no progress yet. I looked at the cracked egg and I felt movement inside while I was holding it and I also smelled the egg, which obviously didn't smell delicious (unless you like the smell of 3+ weeks of chicken butt) but it didn't smell rotten to me either. The lady whom I got these silkies from told me that she used to count the days also but she stopped because sometimes it takes a lot longer to hatch. Thanks you all for hoping with me
