Is my hen broody or something else?

Hmmm. The area where eggs and waste descend is called the vent. It's normal for it to be warm and moving in and out. But, the discharge isn't. I'm now leaning more towards an infection. I would post your last post in the https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures. You may get more responses there. I would get her on some antibiotics, organic, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar and maybe some garlic.

OK ... so today Red is much more typical of being broody.
She is in the sitting on eggs posture, making the most interesting noises (the same as videos of broodys I just watched on youtube) and does not want to come out of the coop.
She also I have a hunch will peck me hard if I try to put my hand near her.

Thanks all for your help and replies. I am going to start another reply re Comets going broody.

Thanks again

Jen
